The following is a summary of the HomeChoice Club Funeral Benefit (the “Club
Funeral”) Terms & Conditions with effect from the 1st January 2010.
1. Funeral cover ceases at age 65. Club members 65 years and older are not covered
by the Club Funeral.
2. Funeral cover is R4 000, which your Next of Kin may claim subject to the Terms
& Conditions of the Club Funeral benefit.
3. The Next of Kin is your spouse, life partner, child or a close family relative.
The Next of Kin will need to prove his or her status to make a claim.
4. Your Entry Date for cover under the Club Funeral commences on the date of receipt
of your first Club membership fee since:
a. You joined the Club for the first time; or
b. You re-joined the Club after a period of non-membership for any reason; which
ever date is the most recent.
5. No funeral benefit payout can be made if, at the date of death:
a. You are not a member of the HomeChoice Club; or
b. The Entry Date has not been reached; or
c. Your Club membership fee is 30 or more days in arrears; or
d. You are 65 or more years of age.
6. Your entire membership to the HomeChoice Club (including the Club Funeral) will
be suspended if your HomeChoice account reaches 90 days or more in arrears. If your
Club membership is subsequently reinstated, your Entry Date will be updated as per
4b above.
7. The Club Funeral is underwritten my Metropolitan Life.
8. The Next of Kin must submit notification of a claim within 6 months of the date
of death; and all necessary documentation related to the claim must be submitted
within 6 months of notification. HomeChoice and Metropolitan Life endeavour to process
all claims within a few days of receipt of all the necessary documentation.
9. HomeChoice reserves the right to change the pricing and the Terms & Conditions
of the Club and Club Funeral with 30 days’ notice.
